Wildlife Wednesday 16 - Onion Munching Sheep

I know sheep are pretty boring but these ones weren't - they were munching a farmers onions in a field that had a ton of onions drying in the sun. Who would have thought they would have eaten raw onions!!

Sunset in the Hunter Valley

This shot was taken from out accommodation in the Hunter Valley wine region in Pokolbin. We had a great time in the Hunter and it was our first experience of wine tasting. It's surprisingly easier than you think.

This slightly scary truck was parked up just as we were about to embark on the long trek across the Nullarbor. We snapped this out of the car window.

Wildlife Wednesday 15 - Dolphin

This shot was taken in Monkey Mia, Shark Bay, Western Australia. The Dolphins come in here for one small fish every day. They are still considered wild as this is nowhere near enough to feed them fully.
I got to personally hand feed one of the dolphins, great experience.

Underground Hotel - White Cliffs

White Cliffs is a strange town, it only exists because Opals are found there. People there live underground to avoid the summer heat - it stays a constant 21 degrees. We just had to stay in the hotel - very quiet compared to all the camping!

Beautiful Sunset, Tractor Beach, Streaky Bay

This must have been one of the best sunsets of our whole trip. It was taken at Tractor Beach, Streaky Bay, South Australia.
I nearly didn't get the shot at all. I was sitting down to dinner when I saw the sky was pink and I had to run a good 300 metres to the beach to ge this view. Well worth the effort.

Tram in Melbourne

Melbourne is famous for it's tram ways, they run down the middle of many of the roads. They certainly make driving in the city a little more tricky. If you love Australia - My Images are now for sale on Fine Art America - Please see my gallery at this link - Carl Koenig Gallery

Flinders Ranges

This is a beautiful shot of an old rugged terrain. The Flinders is one of the most amazing places on this earth. I have plenty of shots from here and I won't be afraid to return to them! Amazing place.....

Outback Sunset

This shot was taken in North Western Queensland. It is one of my favourites and reminds me so much of our time in the remoter parts of this land.

Uluru Climb

This interesting shot was taken after I made the momentus climb to the top of Uluru (Ayers Rock) The small things you can see on the ground are cars and campers! I felt like I was up as high as a plane. The climb is VERY steep and tiring - it should not be attempted by the nervous or unfit.

Wildlife Wednesday 14 - Rainbow lorikeet

This cheeky little fella is a Rainbow Lorikeet. They are a beautiful playful bird, this one in particular was taken at The Polish place in Mt Tamborine, Queensland. So cheeky are they here, that they wait for you to finish your coffee and cake and then jump in and lick your plate clean!!

'Big Red' Sand Dune - Simpson Desert NP

Hi All - I am back on the web after my house move....

This is a photo from the top of 'Big Red'.
Big Red is the largest sand dune in the Simpson Desert and is also the most easterly dune. This means if you are travelling from Mt Dare in the west to Birdsville in the east(Across the 'Simmo' as it is affectionatley known), Big Red will be your final and toughest test.
Our car was not capable of crossing the Simpson unfortunately (can't carry enough fuel) but we were able to drive to the top of 'Big Red'. It was just a case of letting the tyres down a bit and giving it plenty of gas to keep going.
I have added a fun 2nd photo as proof of our achievement!! :)

Moss Covered Rocks - Nelson Falls

This shot was taken in central Tasmania and I love the green of the rocks. The atmosphere was so wet here, the rainforest was thriving.

Wildlife Wednesday 13 - Pelican

These Pelicans were very tame, they were in Monkey Mia in the Shark Bay World Heritage area. This shot was taken moments after I had hand fed a technically Wild Dolphin. Monkey Mia is a great place to visit, but be prepared to travel to get there - it is very remote. Outback by the sea I would say!

Binalong Bay in the Bay of Fires

Binalong Bay is a truly beautiful place on the east Coast of Tasmania. The beach here is rated as one of the most beatiful in the world. It was overcast when we arrived here and as you know beaches don't look good unless the sun is shining! We walked to the far end of the beach and waited, the sun only popped out at intervals but we managed to get a few good shots. This remains a top favourite spot of ours.

Lakes Entrance, Sunset

We sat here with fish and chips watching the sunset - seemed like the thing to do by the 'seaside'!
Lakes Entrance is called that because there is an entrance from lakes into the ocean that is kept clear by dredging.

Wildlife Wednesday 12 - Dingo

This shot of 2 Dingos searching for food was taken on Fraser Island. The Dingos here are said to be the purest left in Australia as they have had less opportunity to inter breed with wild dogs.
The beach is the main highway on Fraser, as you can see these guys were feeding right in the middle of it!
