Pink Sky - Sunset in Eden

This shot was taken on the same evening that we took the sunset over a lake in Eden post way back on 1st July 2010.

We raced from the lake to the beach and just managed to capture a few shots - this is my favourite

We saw some great skies on our trip and they are a lasting memory for me.

Sunset in Kalbarri

This may be the most dramatic sunset I have ever seen! Making this one of the favourite photos we took on the trip. It was taken in Kalbarri, Central Coast, Wetern Australia. This area is famous for it's geological features, particulalry 'Natures Window' - Picture to come.... one of these days ;-)

Sunset in the Hunter Valley

This shot was taken from out accommodation in the Hunter Valley wine region in Pokolbin. We had a great time in the Hunter and it was our first experience of wine tasting. It's surprisingly easier than you think.

Beautiful Sunset, Tractor Beach, Streaky Bay

This must have been one of the best sunsets of our whole trip. It was taken at Tractor Beach, Streaky Bay, South Australia.
I nearly didn't get the shot at all. I was sitting down to dinner when I saw the sky was pink and I had to run a good 300 metres to the beach to ge this view. Well worth the effort.

Outback Sunset

This shot was taken in North Western Queensland. It is one of my favourites and reminds me so much of our time in the remoter parts of this land.

Lakes Entrance, Sunset

We sat here with fish and chips watching the sunset - seemed like the thing to do by the 'seaside'!
Lakes Entrance is called that because there is an entrance from lakes into the ocean that is kept clear by dredging.

Tropical Cairns, North Queensland

This picture was taken from my camping chair on our pitch in Cairns. Nothing better than a cold drink in a tropical place with a view like this!

Sunrise aboard Spirit of Tasmania

Well..... as requested in a comment on the last post by 'Wind', here is the sunrise from the Spirit of Tasmania on the morning we couldn't sleep. I love the dramatic clouds.

Sunset over the Great Australian Bight

This picture of the Great Australian Bight was taken near our camp spot in a Eyre Highway rest area on the Nullarbor Plain, South Australia. We arrived late in the day after a very long 700km drive. We stopped just as the sun was setting as we didn't want to risk the time most Kangaroos venture out on to the road. It was a windy night and we didn't get too much sleep. The rest area didn't have any amenities either and because Nullarbor means 'no trees' going to the loo was interesting!

Tropical Sunset - Hamilton Island

This is one of my favourite pictures of all time (My wife even has it as her desktop background!). It is taken from 'One Tree Hill' on Hamilton Island in the Whitsundays. We love Hamilton Island and would recommend everyone have a visit. Great holiday atmosphere, beautiful weather, restaurants, beaches, you name it.
My image is available for full size download for free here if anyone would like it? I have pictures for sale here too - for you budding photographers out there, it is easier than you might think to sell your images, and it's free to set up.

Sunset in Canberra

Been a while since I posted a sunset picture. Here is one that I love taken from our campsite in Canberra. Amazing what you see when you are living outdoors.

Bramwell Station - Cape York

Cape York is a Mecca for 4x4 owners, they come to test their driving skills and their vehicle. Our trip around Oz was in a 4x4 and we thoroughly enjoyed the Cape. I am sure there will be plenty of images from here as the blog continues on.

This image is from Bramwell Station at the beginning of the "Old Telegraph Track". This track is what 4wders come to challenge themselves and their cars against. We spent the night before our trek here at bramwell with friends enjoying what would be our last shower for a while! Great camp spot.

Perth - River City...

Somebody asked me if I had a nice shot of Perth I could post. This one springs to mind, took lots of night shots here whilst my wife was on on a 3 hours phone call to the UK!! We liked Perth and it would be our favourite Australian city if it didn't feel so isolated. Lovely city, good memories.

Sunset over a lake in Eden

For those of you who don't already know, we have done a lot of camping in Australia. This shot was taken from the campsite about 20 metres from our tent. How's that for a view?

Cooktown - Sun down......

The opportunity for photographing sunsets in Australia is huge. The weather and the big open skies see to that.
This shot of palm trees in front of a pink / purple sky was taken in Cooktown in Northern Queensland. It it is not a shot I had been planning and standing around waiting for, i just hopped out of the car and there it was. I reached for the camera, snapped and this is the result - I love it.

Broome - A Land of Contrast

Today we go from the heart of the outback to the tropical waters of Cable Beach in tropical Broome.
Broome is on the north west coast of Western Australia and is somewhat isolated. It has an oriental heritage and started out as a pearling village.
Broome is great at the time of year these shots were taken (June - winter)
It is the best time to visit, as in the summer the tropical storms come and I imagine this palm tree would be blowing sideways!.

I have added 2 pictures today because I am away Saturday with no internet....

The first shot was taken from the promenade looking out over Cable Beach to the ocean.

The second shot was taken at sunset and typifies the beautiful scenes on offer all along the west coast of Australia
